If the Eagles do not invest the first-round pick in April's NFL Draft on addressing the cornerback position, it seems that the top national NFL Draft analysts, prognosticators and pundits have Howie Roseman and Co. using the No. 14/15 pick on acquiring another weapon for quarterback Carson Wentz and the offense. 

One popular name that has been projected to the Eagles several times is Florida State running back Dalvin Cook. After the Dallas Cowboys chose Ezekiel Elliott out of Ohio State with the No. 4 overall pick it isn't difficult to see the value in pairing a young, franchise running back with a franchise signal caller. 

However, Sporting News' Vinny Iyer has the Eagles passing up on Cook, instead adding Western Michigan wide receiver Corey Davis with the No. 14 pick, leaving Cook to the Indianapolis Colts with the next selection:

Philadelphia took Carson Wentz in last year's first-round -- now the Sam Bradford trade can help it get his true No. 1 receiver in 2017. Davis has good size (6-2, 205 pounds) and speed, but what stands out is his precise route-running, which is critical for Doug Pederson's offense.

Eagles mock draft roundup

Davis set career highs with 97 receptions for 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns and has been linked to the Eagles in several early mock draft projections. 

It is no secret that wide receiver is a position of need for the Eagles both heading into free agency and the NFL Draft. In 2015 the Eagles receivers led the league in dropped passes and showed little improvement last season. 

Davis will not be running at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis after suffering a minor ankle injury and undergoing surgery. While Davis' injury is not severe, it could help push him down the draft board into a range where the Eagles could realistically choose him.
