Brett Elliott's brief stint as Texas State's offensive coordinator has come to an end after one season.

Elliott, who joined coach Everett Withers' staff in 2016, will be named Mississippi State's new quarterbacks coach.

The 34-year-old previously served as an offensive quality control coach under incumbent Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen from 2012 to 2014. He spent one season at James Madison as a co-coordinator and quarterbacks coach before joining Texas State.

Elliott's departure has caused Withers to restructure his staff.

"With the completion of the 2017 signing day, it is always a time to reflect and try to improve your football program," Withers said. "One way is through staff changes and realignment. When you hire great coaches, you must understand that coaches will have opportunities to expand their career and move on.

"Brett Elliott is no longer a member of our staff after taking a job at Mississippi State in the Southeastern Conference. Parker Fleming will become the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. Newly hired Zak Kuhr will coach running backs and be the offensive coordinator with emphasis in the running game."
