One day mourning took on Arkady Babtschenko. Many obituaries were published, even more probably written, but y are no longer published. On Wednesday evening, believed dead Russian journalist stood before his colleagues at a press conference in Kiev and said that murder of him was a staging. Not even his wife knew that. Babtschenko apologized to her for "hell" she had to go through. He thanked Ukrainian Secret Service SBU for remaining alive.

Supposedly, this staging served to prevent a planned murder of journalist and to transfer responsible person. A Ukrainian citizen was arrested, said head of SBU, Wasil Gritsak, at press conference. The arrested man was recruited by Russian secret Service. He hired a Ukrainian war veteran to kill Babtschenko. In addition, alleged offender tried to buy 300 machine pistols, hundreds of kilos of explosives, ammunition and mines for Russian money, and to store m in a secret place in Ukraine. Even more: The planner of attack had planned to have anor 30 people murdered in Ukraine.

Journalists and politicians all over world are now likely to rub ir eyes and ask what is right about it now. So far, it has not been very convincingly explained why it was absolutely necessary to stage murder as in a bad agent movie. Ukrainian MEP Anton Heraschtschenko wrote on Facebook, so y were able to trace entire chain of command to Russian intelligence services. He also relied on British crime writer Arthur Conan Doyle. His character, Sherlock Holmes, used "staging his own death to effectively identify complicated and intricate cases," says Heraschtschenko.

Babtschenko himself said at press conference that he had learned a month ago from Ukrainian Secret Service that a murder of him was in preparation. The alleged perpetrator had Babtschenkos passports and an old passport photo, which had been made when Babtschenko had received his passport in Russia at age of 25. This has been seen as evidence that information may have come from Russian authorities or from Russian intelligence services. "I was suggested to take part in this operation," Babtschenko said. "And re are no alternatives here, no or variants", so he agreed. The Ukrainian intelligence officers had "ploughed like Buffalo" and prevented several terrorist attacks in Ukraine.

Are re still 30 or people in danger?

The news that Babtschenko was not murdered has provided for great relief, but also for irritation. Some questions have so far been unanswered. Why, for instance, suspected assassin needed a 16-year-old passport picture of journalist, he still has enough current pictures on net. And who are or 30 people who should be murdered in Ukraine? Are you still in danger?

The Ukrainian Secret Service should publish hard evidence for its version as soon as possible. Orwise, whole operation could sustainably damage credibility of Ukraine and Babtschenko itself.
