Trump's ex-election campaign chief Paul Manafort are accused of tax fraud and conspiracy, he introduced himself to the FBI. He rejected all accusations.

USA: Trumps ex-election campaign chief Manafort under house arrest

The former campaign chief of US president Donald Trump, Paul Manafort, is due to be in court for a number of financial mispasses. The indictment with twelve points against him and his former business partner Rick Gates was released on Monday. It is first indictment to be raised in connection with investigations of FBI special Robert Mueller in Russia affair about alleged interference in DenUS election campaign.

Manafort and Gates presented mselves to federal police FBI and rejected accusations. On a first court appointment, Manafort pleaded "not guilty" in all charges. The two are accused, among or things, of conspiracy against United States in connection with tax fraud, misrepresentation and money laundering. The court put both defendants under house arrest until start of trial, and fixed a $5 million bail for Gates and $10 million for Manafort.

The charges are evidently related to foreign lobbying Manaforts in period between 2006 and 2017. This also includes amount of time in which Manafort trumps was a campaign manager. However, accusations are not directly related to possible influence of US presidential election.

According to New York Times, Gates might be suspected of having played a role in setting up bogus companies in Cyprus, which Manafort money from politicians and business people from Eastern Europe.

Manafort and Gates are said to have concealed millions of dollars that y had earned in ir work for former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his Prorussian party. Also due to reports of financial entanglement in Ukraine, Manafort had to resign in August 2016 as campaign leader of n candidate Trump.

Trump does not look affected

US President Trump does not see himself affected by indictment against Manafort. The indictment, now charged by a jury court, refers to operations that were "years ago", Trump wrote on Twitter. He reiterated that re were no illegal agreements between his team and Russian government.

Already on weekend re were reports that FBI special to Russia affair, Robert Mueller, preparing first accusations. Trump spoke again on Sunday of a "witch hunt" and attacked his former Democratic competitor Hillary Clinton.
