Charged is Allen C. Jackson Jr., 27, of the first block of Edgewood Court.

Jackson at 5:20 p.m. Feb. 2 entered the store at Northampton Crossings in Lower Nazareth Township and was seen by a loss prevention officer removing the speaker's packing, according to police.

Jackson allegedly placed the speaker up his coat sleeve and attempted to walk out of the store, passing all cash registers, police said. He was then stopped by the loss prevention officer and detained until police arrived.

Police estimated the value of the stolen item at nearly $120.

It was Jackson's third shoplifting offense. He previously was convicted of theft on July 27, 2012, in Whitehall Township and April 18, 2013 in Pohatcong Township. There also was a warrant out for his arrest in Northampton County, authorities said.

Jackson was arraigned last week on the theft charge in the Feb. 2 case before District Judge Alicia Zito, who set bail at $10,000. He was sent to Northampton County Prison, where he remained Tuesday.
