Díaz praises the exemplary nature of small businesses compared to the benefits of large distributors

BRUSELAS, 8 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, praised this Thursday the exemplary nature of small businesses, which are taking measures to lower the price of the shopping basket without having "great economic positions", in the face of the "extraordinary" benefits obtained by large Spanish distributors.

"I am clear on this aspect: there is a fundamental transfer of income to the corporate profits of the large distributors in our country," the minister asserted this Thursday in Brussels, where she met with her European counterparts.

Díaz, who has reiterated that the price of the shopping basket is one of the main problems that Spain has, along with rents and mortgages, has lamented that families cannot access quality and healthy food because the price of food is "impossible".

"It is curious that it is the small business that is addressing and taking measures in their neighborhoods, it is being exemplary without having great economic positions and it is more than questionable that the large distributors, who are obtaining extraordinary benefits, do not take any action in this regard" , has influenced the minister.

Along the same lines, he has warned that what is at stake is how to get out of this crisis, while, according to the Bank of Spain report, "corporate profits are multiplying wage income sevenfold", for which reason shown to be in favor of paying for the crisis "with the contribution of those who have the most", in this case, the large distributors, who also "concentrate power in very few hands".

The minister has also transferred all her support to Spanish producers, who are also suffering the consequences of a model that is being "unfair". "It makes no sense to do what the economic right and the PP always propose, which is to lower taxes, because that would not fix the problem of the price of the shopping basket," she explained.

On the contrary, he has advocated guaranteeing shopping baskets that include varied and quality products, while recalling that when the Government acts, as has happened in the case of energy, prices drop, while when it does not , prices "shoot up".
