Head-on wreck after snow hurts 5 in Warren County

Despite what police said on Tuesday was a head-on crash on Route 94 in Frelinghuysen Township, a trooper said Wednesday that injuries were not severe.

A Hyundai Elantra and a Ford Ranger collided at 11:54 a.m. on a slight curve between Silver Lake and Kerrs Corner roads, New Jersey State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez said. The road was wet after morning snow.

A witness said two people were taken to Newton Medical Center for treatment while three were driven to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono. Goez said he couldn't confirm if anyone was hospitalized, only that the crash wasn't as bad Betsmove as initially thought.

George McKenney, 87, of Warwick, New York, was driving the Hyundai and he had one passenger, Goez said. George Hughes, 83, of Newton, New Jersey, was driving the pickup and he had two adult passengers, Goez said.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued, Goez said. A medical helicopter was on standby but wasn't needed, he added.
