Massive defensive tackle Damion Daniels of Bishop Dunne High Schoolin Dallas announced he was accepting a scholarship offer with Nebraska, denying UTSA a chance at its most heralded prospect in its short football history.

Daniels, a 6-foot-2, 310-pound run-stuffer had the Roadrunners listed with the Cornhuskers and Colorado in hislist of three finalists.

The decision, made live on ESPNU, was the final remaining piece left in UTSA's recruiting class.

"It was really simple, but was really hard," Daniels said about his decision. "The hospitality they showed ... I know I'll be successful at Nebraska and they'll get me to the next level."

Daniels showed gratitude and humility to his decision, breaking into tears before making his final announcement.

"When I went there, the coaches, the advisor, the community and just the Asyabahis way the players interacted with me," Daniels said about accepting the offer from Coach Mike Riley and the Cornhuskers. 

Coach Frank Wilson has the Roadrunners with its best recruiting class in its brief history. All of the major reruiting sites have UTSA at the top of the rankings for Conference USA. 

UTSA came close to signing its most heralded prospect in its short history, but Daniels went to a more established program with the Cornhuskers.

In the end, the Cornhuskers' massive football tradition won out.
