First a proud dad, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, saw his son Jack selected by the Los Angeles Kings, Friday at the Bell Center, in the second round of the draft.

The 18-year-old hockey player heard his name ranked 51st in the amateur auction. Obviously, his father was there and very happy with the outcome. He believes that his offspring will be able to flourish quickly with the Californian organization.

“He is a player with a great sense of hockey, there are several offensive elements in his game. I am aware that he is not the most physically imposing at the moment, but I have confidence in him. He is a worker who will gain weight and he will become a very good player with Los Angeles, ”said the CEO of the Habs to the TVA Sports channel.

Jack Hughes, a product of Northeastern University, had 16 points, including seven goals, in 39 games last season. The 6-ft, 170-lb athlete had 18 points in 29 outings for the U.S. National Under-17 squad in 2019-20, then a goal and seven assists in 14 games with the development team of the United States the following year.
