An 18-year-old man was shot Thursday afternoon on the South Side in the city's Chatham neighborhood, police said.

According to preliminary information, the victim was wounded shortly after 1 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Maryland Avenue, police said.

The victim was shot in the right leg and taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

No one was in custody, and police were investigating.
