Montreal police are investigating a suspicious fire that targeted a vehicle in the borough of Anjou, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was alerted shortly after 2 a.m. by a 911 call to a burning vehicle on rue Mousseau, near rue de Grosbois.

When the police arrived on the scene, the firefighters were already controlling the flames confined to the only vehicle.

According to witnesses interviewed by the police, suspects were seen fleeing on foot after the start of the fire.

No one was injured and no arrests were made in the case, said SPVM spokeswoman Gabriella Youakim.

The investigation was transferred to the arson section of the SPVM and the vehicle was towed to be appraised, added agent Youakim.
