Passenger air transport prices rise 20.7% in the third quarter

The prices of passenger air transport rose 20.7% in the third quarter compared to the same period in 2021, a rate almost 4.5 points lower than that of the previous quarter, as reported this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). .

Of the fifteen services sector activities for which the INE calculates price indices, five cut their year-on-year rate of change in the third quarter and ten raised it.

This is revealed by the Services Sector Price Index, whose objective is to provide quarterly indexes of the evolution of the price of services provided to companies by each of the sectors from the point of view of the producer.

On the side of year-on-year decreases, passenger air transport stands out, with a variation of its prices of 20.7%, almost 4.5 points below that of the previous quarter; and postal and mail activities, which cut their annual rate by nine tenths, to 5.7%.

Among the activities that raised their interannual rate, the maritime transport of merchandise stands out, which increased its annual rate by almost two points, up to 7.8%; advertising, which registered an interannual rate of -0.7%, 1.5 points higher than that of the previous quarter, and telecommunications, whose annual rate increased 1.5 points, to -0.3%.
