The United States finances TSMC with up to 10.6 billion to build factories in the country

MADRID, 8 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The United States Department of Commerce has signed a preliminary non-binding memorandum with TSMC to provide the Taiwanese microprocessor manufacturer up to $6.6 billion (€6.089 million) in direct financing and another $5.0 billion (€4.613 million) in under the Chips and Science Act to build a third production plant in Arizona.

In this sense, in addition to the two production centers currently under construction in Arizona (United States), TSMC has confirmed its plans to build a third factory in the State to meet strong customer demand.

As the company moves forward with the completion of its first factory and continues construction on its second, the third factory in the region brings TSMC's total capital spending in Phoenix, Arizona, to more than $65 billion (59.969 million of euros).

In this way, the Taiwanese company has highlighted that this represents the largest foreign direct investment project in the history of Arizona and the largest foreign direct investment in a totally new project in the history of the United States.

"The Chips and Science Act provides TSMC with the opportunity to make this unprecedented investment and offer our foundry service for the most advanced manufacturing technologies in the United States," said TSMC President Mark Liu.
