The company should first protect Air Berlin workers from unemployment and facilitate transition to new jobs. For this, up to 50 million euros would have been required, Air Berlin itself wanted to deposit tens of millions of euros.

The three federal states of Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Berlin, as well as federal government, could not have agreed on such a solution, Berlin State Government declared after renewed consultations. Lufthansa had also refused to take part in se financial aid. "It's time for ors to take part in securing jobs now," wrote new Eurowings CEO Thorsten Dirks on Twitter.

BerlinsFinanzsenator Matthias Kollatz-Ancestors said he was Jedochoptimistisch that instead of a large fare company a smaller variant could succeed, for which Berlin could contribute around ten million euros. Air Berlin must now mitBelegschaftsvertretern on a social plan, according to Kollatz ancestors. Such a social plan is a precondition for a transfer company. About 1,000 employees could benefit from this, especially vomBodenpersonal.

Interim injunction against Air Berlin

The personnel representation of Air Berlin flight attendants, however, wants to prevent mass redundancies in company on legal redress. With this goal, she submitted an application to Berlin Labour Court for a restraining order, as a court spokesman said.

This calls for prohibition of dismissal because re has been no negotiation of a social plan with employer. The court will, according to its own information, advise on 2 November and, in all circumstances, also decide on same day. In application, staff representative also requested that all bids be presented in bidding process for Air Berlin. They also demand that Air Berlin does not set up flight operations as announced on Friday.

In meantime, insolvent Air Berlin will be furr dismantled: a buyer is found for subsidiary Leisure Cargo, which offers cargo space in passenger machines. The Berlin time freight group takes over Düsseldorf-based company with its 60 employees, as Air Berlin has shared. The creditors ' committee agreed to purchase. Air Berlin Chief Thomas Winkelmann spoke of a "small but important step in insolvency proceedings".

There is still no decision about future of technology subsidiary, which is also interested in time freight. The negotiations with easyjet low-cost aircraft for takeover of some 25 machines have also been underway for weeks, without any result. It seems clear, refore, that large parts of Air Berlin will go to Lufthansa.

Air Berlin – The second largest German airline to date – had been declared bankrupt in mid-August. The flight operation since n was only secured by a federal loan of over 150 million euros.
