Donald Trump lashes out on Twitter after Nordstrom drops Ivanka Trump

Updated 9:15 a.m.

It looks like President Donald Trump heard the news that Nordstrom has decided to stop carrying the Ivanka Trump lifestyle brand.

On Wednesday morning, Trump tweeted, "My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person -- always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!"

The tweet was retweeted by the official @POTUS account.

Last week, the Seattle-based department store announced it would not continue to purchase Ivanka Trump's clothes, jewelry and handbags, due to sales performance.

In November, Nordstrom responded to a letter calling for the company to stop carrying Ivanka Trump by saying, "We hope that offering a vendor's products isn't misunderstood as us taking a political position; we're not."

The group #GrabYourWallet, which is calling for the boycott of a number of Trump-related companies, is hailing the move by Nordstrom as a victory, though Nordstrom has said it solely sales-based and did not confirm if it was permanent.

After Trump's tweet on Wednesday morning, over Twitter, Nordstrom reiterated that they were no longer carrying Ivanka Trump due to sales.

@TimmyLupusbased Based on the brand's performance we've decided not to buy it for this season.

Nordstrom isn't the first brand to feel Trump's wrath on Twitter. On Dec. 6, he angrily tweeted about another Seattle-based company, Boeing, and momentarily tanked the airplane manufacturer's stock.

So far, Nordstrom's stock hasn't been substantially affected. Josh Barro, a senior editor at Business Insider, tweeted Wednesday morning, "Nordstrom stock had a volume spike and briefly ticked down ~0.5% on the Trump tweet, but fully recovered within minutes."

We reached out to Nordstrom to see what they have to say about Trump's tweet and will update this post when they respond.
