Job cuts: Thousands of jobs at Airbus in danger

Many jobs will be disregarded by European aircraft manufacturer Airbus: in Toulouse, company shared impact of declining production rates on "a maximum of 3,700 jobs" in Germany, France, United Kingdom and Spain. Airbus did not know what works were in detail. This is due to problems with giant Airbus A380 and A400M military transport.

The trade unions said that after Group summit meeting with European Works council, some 3,700 jobs were to be deleted. However, no business-related redundancies were planned.

In Germany, in course of forthcoming job cuts, just over 1,000 jobs are available to insiders, and trade unions even speak of 1,900 jobs. Especially in Bremen and Augsburg it would be hard to find or jobs at same location for those affected, said a person familiar with plans of Reuters news agency. In Hamburg, however, many of employees employed with A380 could be used to run A320 and A350 production.

According to union FO, 850 jobs are to be left in Spain. The Union also spoke about 470 posts in France, and 450 in UK.
