Mexican theater chain weighs dropping US as popcorn vendor

One Mexican cinema chain is getting into a salty debate over where it buys its popcorn.

Cinépolis de Mexico doesn’t feel like making America great again, and is suffering because of the drop in the value of the peso versus the dollar.

Its CEO, Alejandro Ramirez, said he is weighing buying the company’s corn from Argentina instead of the US. According to Bloomberg, the firm buys about $10 million worth of corn from farmers in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa, but if NAFTA changes make life difficult and taxes go up, the cinema chain will stay in South America.
