The ECOROEL project, unique in Europe, wins the award of this contest at the national level and highlights the possibilities of a circular economy model

The Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (CEPYME) has distinguished Confecciones OROEL with the 2022 Circular Economy SME award for designing and carrying out its ECOROEL project. At the IX CEPYME Awards gala, which took place this morning in Madrid, Luis del Corral, president of the Oroel Group, was in charge of collecting the Circular Economy SME award delivered by the confederation."Every effort has its reward and today we have been distinguished with honors", explained del Corral, after the ovation. "Since the ECOROEL project began, we have been very supported by both institutions and employer associations in Aragon, who have been by our side to support this revolutionary project. We have managed to do something that until now had not been possible", has added. Not surprisingly, Confecciones OROEL has been the only Aragonese company that has become a finalist in this edition of the awards. Confecciones OROEL, dedicated to the design, manufacture and marketing of functional protection clothing, began its commitment to the circular economy in 2018, when it decided to embark on the ECOROEL project. With unique characteristics in Europe, at ECOROEL they have managed to recover and reuse aramid and modacrylic fibers to make fabrics for new technical individual protection garments, giving a second life to those garments that were once thrown away in the trash.In the SME Economy category Circular, an award given for the first time in history, the companies ABN Pipe Systems, SLU (Valladolid) and Algaenergy SA (Madrid) were also present as finalists. The award values ​​the contribution of projects that small and medium-sized companies carry out to achieve a more sustainable present and future.
