RELEASE: The UNAVETS Group announces the acquisition of its veterinary centers 100 and 101

Spain, March 23, 2023.

The rapid expansion of UNAVETS continues with the acquisition of the Quirino Veterinary Clinics. The Group has ambitious growth plans in the Iberian veterinary market, currently valued at 2,600 million euros

UNAVETS, one of the fastest growing veterinary groups in Iberia, announces its 100th and 101st veterinary centers, with the acquisition of Quirino Veterinary Clinics. The acquisition includes two centers, one located in Cádiz, Spain, and the other in the British territory of Gibraltar. The announcement represents an important advance for UNAVETS, which has focused on investing in the Iberian veterinary health sector, a market currently valued at 2,600 million euros. In a sector known internationally for its growth potential and its resistance to recession , Spain and Portugal are going through a period of consolidation, with the acquisition of centers by large groups. They are also considered territories conducive to disruption. In both countries, average spending per pet is growing, while trends such as increasing specialization and sophistication of veterinary care, longer pet lifespans, and Covid-related pet population growth have driven to sustained growth in the sector. It is estimated that only between 5% and 10% of Spanish and Portuguese clinics are owned by large groups, in contrast to more than 55% in the United Kingdom and 35% in Sweden. Therefore, Iberia represents a geography where the potential for growth, both in terms of global market size and consolidation potential, is particularly strong. Junko Sheehan, CEO and founder of UNAVETS, comments: "As many As investors see Southern Europe as a strategic growth opportunity, the competitive landscape has become very crowded, making it critical to how veterinary groups differentiate themselves on multiple fronts: as healthcare providers, as employers and as consolidators." "In terms of where we stand in the competitive landscape, this is a very exciting time for UNAVETS. Our announcement marks the group's acquisition of its 100th and 101st centers. We continue to grow and evolve and remain committed to raising the quality of the veterinary sector throughout Iberia".
