The reasons for the Disaronno myth

In 1525 Bernardo Luini, a disciple of Leonardo da Vinci, was commissioned to carry out the fresco of the Virgin of Miracles for the city of Saronno. The painter chose a young local innkeeper as his model, who to show her gratitude gave him an amber drink.

75 years later, in 1600, that recipe was discovered by the Reina family, but it was not until the dawn of the 20th century when the descendant Domenico Reina decided to convert the recipe into the product we know today.

It was in 1947 that the historic ILLVA Saronno Holding establishment was born, turning a purely artisanal activity into a true industry that would make Disaronno, throughout the 1960s, a global icon of Italian Dolce Vita.
