Nonpartisan nonprofit promotes ad and social media campaigns as elections and war accelerate misinformation

PACIFICA, Calif., Jan. 16, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- As everyday people and politicians alike look with hope and concern to major elections around the world, Trust Project® is expanding its nonpartisan campaign

The advertising and social media campaign uses compelling imagery to draw attention to the 8 Trust Indicators, a proven system that allows anyone to easily evaluate the trustworthiness of their news sources. In a survey associated with a similar campaign that led people to learn about Trust Indicators, 60 percent of respondents said they gained more confidence when evaluating the news.

That public trust is vital. Experts predict a significant rise in misinformation and disinformation as the election heats up, and generative AI is potentially a dangerous accelerator. It is well known that uncertainty about access to accurate information can lead people to avoid the news and, in turn, distance themselves from civic engagement altogether.
