From workplaces in front of floor windows it is safe to study with a view of green. But library is not only architecturally new. The library system has also been updated to a modern level: for example, all books are sorted centrally. The company has been operating normally again since September 18th, and library is also accessible to external users. It has long been dragging until everything is as it is now. First plans were already 2003. The reconstruction itself lasted for about six years, as library director Maria Mann-Kallenborn reported. The relocation of part 100 of Stag beetle Building, in which library was previously housed, in now refurbished, adjacent part 200, however, lasted only four weeks. "We are first Bavarian University library that has provided RFID tags for all your free-hand stock," says Pieruschka.
It is not only possible to borrow books in new library, but also to learn in peace and with modern technology. About 300 learning and working places at simple white tables are available, all equipped with power supply and WLAN access. All se amenities are of benefit to students and scientists at university, but also to external users. Anyone can read here who lives in Munich S-Bahn area, can also apply for a card and borrow media.
