The Kelly-to-the-Falcons speculation isn't new, there was a report about Kelly being under consideration for the offensive coordinator position early last week. However, this latest report seems to indicate that Kelly's candidacy is gaining traction within the Falcons organization.

Kelly would be replacing Kyle Shanahan, who is widely expected to be named the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers after the Falcons face the New England Patriots in Sunday's Super Bowl 51. Ironically, Shanahan would be replacing Kelly, who was Deneme Bonusu fired by the 49ers after one season as head coach.

If he got the job, Kelly would be working with the league's best offense in 2016. The Falcons have quarterback Matt Ryan, who is expected to be name the league's most valuable player, wide receiver Julio Jones, who is one of the best at this position and the dynamic running back duo of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. The unit might be the best Kelly has worked with since his first season in Philadelphia in 2013.

What may be helping Kelly is his reported willingness to tweak his philosophy and dial back his uptempo offense after his disastrous season in San Francisco.

"Being fired from two NFL jobs has humbled Kelly to a degree. He now acknowledges on some level that he will have to tweak his philosophy about a sped-up offense if he intends to remain an NFL coach."
