In the party board, Seehofer announced his resignation from his two offices. The CSU had previously discussed asylum policy for hours.

Asylum dispute: Seehofer offers resignation as interior minister and CSU party leader

Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer has announced his resignation. He also announced his withdrawal as CSU party leader at meeting of party Executive Board and Bundestag deputies in Munich. Seehofer has only been in grand coalition federal interior Minister for almost 100 days, and since 2008 he is CSU leader.

The CSU board had previously discussed consequences of CSU in asylum dispute with CDU for more than seven hours. At same time, Seehofer and his party friends had expressed ir majority opposition to decisions of EU summit and to a national entrance.
