In Nigeria, more than 700 people were able to free mselves from captivity of Islamist terrorist militia Boko Haram after military claims. They were mainly farmers, fishermen and ir families, who were kept by Islamists as working slaves, military said.

Previously, re would have been several military operations against militia near Chad in norast of country. The prisoners of militia escaped from various islands in lake and fled to city of Monguno, where y were received by soldiers. The people who came out would now be questioned by security forces, said a military spokesman.

The Sunni extremist militia Boko Haram has been terrorizing norast of Nigeria and neighboring areas of neighbouring countries for years. At least 20,000 people have been killed in ir attacks and attacks since 2009. Millions have fled violence.

Repeatedly abducted Boko-haram-fighter villagers. Among or things, militia was known 2014 by abduction of 276 predominantly Christian pupils from village of Chibok. About 100 of girls are still considered missing.
