The Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has shown uncompromisingly in dispute over independence aspirations in Catalonia. In an interview published on Saturday evening by El País newspaper, Rajoy said that, in accordance with article 155 of Constitution, Spanish government could suspend autonomy of region and prevent a secession. Catalonia would n be placed under forced administration of Madrid- regional government lose any scope for manoeuvre.

Ideally, drastic solutions should not be necessary, but situation must change, emphasized Rajoy. It was his first newspaper interview since independence referendum last week.

As long as crisis has not ended, 4000 additional policemen in Catalonia who sent government because of controversial independence referendum, said Rajoy. He also rejected a mediation in conflict, such as holding of elections in Spain.

On Saturday, tens of thousands of people demonstrated a peaceful solution to conflict throughout country. In well 50 cities, y spoke out for a dialogue between Catalan regional government and central government in Madrid.

According to Catalan regional government, 90 per cent of participants voted in favour of a split of Spain in banned referendum. The turnout, however, was only 42 percent. The Spanish central government had tried to prevent referendum with a large police force. Police officers closed polling stations, confiscated voting documents, and prevented people with batons and rubber bullets from voting. Hundreds of people were injured. Only on Friday a representative of Madrid apologized for police force.
