Daryl Katz, a billionaire businessman who notably owns the Edmonton Oilers, is being tried in court for allegedly paying to receive sexual favors from a 17-year-old minor in 2016.

The 60-year-old, 53 at the time, allegedly gave at least $75,000 to Sage Humphries, a young ballet dancer, according to reporter Benjamin Allbright of Colorado radio station KOA 850 on Wednesday. AM

Allbright also explains that Katz is implicated as a third party to the defendant in this lawsuit which targets dance teacher Taylor Button and his wife Dusty Button. Humphries and six other dancers filed a lawsuit in 2021 for alleged acts of sexual abuse in the 2010s.

This isn't the first time Katz's name has been mentioned in a case like this. Brazilian actress Greice Santo accused him in 2017 of offering her money for sexual favors.

The Albertan became owner of the Oilers in 2008 after offering $200 million. He also owns the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL and the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Junior League West.
