LINDEN -- Blue Apron, a meal kit delivery company, plans to bring more than 2,000 jobs to New Jersey with the construction and opening of a 495,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Linden this year.

Hourly rates will start at $13 and rise with experience and the position, the company announced. Entry-level, supervisor and managerial positions are available in Blue Apron's kitchen, packing, and shipping and receiving departments.

Union County's freeholder board is already recruiting people to fill 500 full-time positions at the Linden center. County residents can call the Innovation Business Center at 908-355-4444 during regular business hours for more information.

Matt Salzberg, Blue Apron's co-founder and CEO, said in a press release the company was excited to expand its presence in New Jersey.

"Our new fulfillment center will help improve the efficiency and capacity of our operations to meet strong customer demand," he said.

Blue Apron also has a fulfillment center in Jersey City, as well as in Arlington, Texas, and Richmond, Calif. The company plans to build another fulfillment center in Fairfield, Calif., in 2018.
