The company committees of Renfe and Adif agreed to call a strike on November 24 and 30 and December 1, 4 and 5 due to the uncertainty generated in the workforce by the transfer of Rodalies, as well as the entry of a private company. (MSC) in the capital of Renfe Mercancías.

The transfer of Rodalies was agreed between PSOE and ERC within the framework of the negotiations for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez and will mean that Catalonia acquires control over the management of R1, R2 and R3, including trains and tracks. Later, other lines will be evaluated.

Specifically, the Renfe strike is planned for the entire national territory during November 24 and 30 and December 1, 4 and 5, 2023 from 00:00 to 23:59 and affects all Renfe Group staff.

The strikes are called during the five days mentioned, which include the beginning of the December long weekend, and affect both Cercanías and Medium Distance, Long Distance and Freight services.

In Medium Distance trains the minimum services will be 65%, while in Cercanías there will be a difference between peak hours (from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.), when they will be 75%, and the rest of the day, when they will be 50%.

Renfe will offer AVE, Long and Medium Distance passengers, whenever possible, to travel on another train at the time closest to the one acquired. If you do not wish to make the trip, you can cancel or change your ticket to another date without any cost.

Thus, in Media Distancia, of the 3,160 trains affected by the strike, 2,063 will circulate in minimum services, which represents 65%. For its part, in High Speed ​​and Long Distance, of the 1,636 trains affected by the strike, 1,185 will circulate in minimum services, which represents approximately 72%.
