Bilbao City Council has once again awarded a joint venture led by FCC Medio Ambiente the interior cleaning service for the town hall and other dependent entities that the company has been providing since 1993. The portfolio amounts to 53.4 million euros for the next four years with a possible extension of one more year and will serve more than 350,000 square meters distributed among 170 city centers. The company has been present in Bilbao since 1972 and currently provides street cleaning services, waste collection and maintenance of gardens and green areas. The contract will have a staff of approximately 400 people and will incorporate newly acquired vehicles with a "Zero" environmental label. Emissions" that join the already existing electric fleet. In addition, these equipment will have a lime-based paint with more flexible and durable graphene nanofibers, without toxic components and with the capacity to purify the environment and absorb CO2, all of which shows the commitment of the Bilbao City Council and FCC Medio Ambiente to the fight against climate change. For the first time, the cleaning of the Artxanda funicular is included in the service, which consists of two stations and two cars, as well as the elevators, ramps and escalators throughout the municipality. The company will collaborate with the non-profit entity LAZTAN to obtain the internationally recognized 'Allergy Protection' seal, in order to provide greater safety to multi-allergic people who access and use these buildings. There will also be mini electric clean points for the selective collection of waste whose fraction is not containerized on public roads (toner, batteries...). In line with the innovative nature of FCC Medio Ambiente, manned scrubbers are incorporated that, Completely autonomous and without requiring a driver, they will clean areas with learned routes safely and reliably. Likewise, the creation of an Innovation Committee made up of those responsible for the service, operators and the Municipal Technical Service has been planned, which will collect internal and external information, through fairs, congresses and other administrations, as well as collaboration with organizations to which The Group provides service, in order to implement new solutions and improve its results. Among them, a new ultrasonic surface cleaning technology for whose testing and validation an agreement has been signed with the Tekniker Technology and Research Center. In order to also promote the social sustainability of the service, the company has signed agreements with several entities for the socio-labor insertion of groups at risk of exclusion, such as the Lantegi-Batuak Foundation, the Urbegi Foundation and the María Inmaculada Bilbao Educational Center.
