Lufthansa resumes operations after strike but expects some delays and cancellations this Saturday

MADRID, 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Lufthansa Group resumes its air operations this Saturday after the ground staff strike, called by Verdi and which ended at 7:10 a.m. today, although it expects initial delays and some cancellations in the morning.

This strike at the airline, which has lasted two days and has only allowed between 10% and 20% of scheduled flights to be carried out, joined another strike related to security workers at Frankfurt and Hamburg airports that occurred last Thursday. .

The backdrop of the protests continues to be the salary improvements within the framework of the ongoing collective negotiations, which have already triggered several stoppages throughout the month of February.

During the last two days of negotiations, February 21 and 22, the airline improved its offer in two aspects: the zero months included in the current offer were reduced and the sustainable salary increase was improved by 0.5%. At the same time, Lufthansa extended the duration of its offer by a further three months, up to a total of 28 months.

However, the union denounces that its basic demand, a 12.5% salary increase, which is more than twice as long as the twelve-month offer, is still not met in the offer.
