It was the Artyom arms factory which, "as a military infrastructure, was the target", the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, adding that this site had already been targeted in April.

"Russian forces attacked civilian targets in Kyiv = fake," the Defense Ministry insisted. The Russian missile "precisely hit the workshops of the Artyom factory", he added.

The Russian ministry claimed that the damage to a nearby residential building was caused by the fall of a Ukrainian air defense missile. "The damage was not only caused from above, but also from below, which confirms the version of a fall" of a Ukrainian defense missile, he assured.

It was not possible to independently verify this claim.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, one person was found dead and four others were hospitalized after the strikes which took place at dawn in a district near the center of Kyiv.
