Then former Lady Firecracker-star Anke Edwards completely disconnected saddest song of German romance: In a cool reason, re goes a mill, Joseph of Eichendorff's wistful poetry from end of a great love. Verses of Broken Fidelity, about a zersprungenes Ringlein. Poetic outburst of death's yearning.

When social worker, who was played by Edwards, was Anne Jung, so in 1970s, one had fallen in love with quite different music, a wilder, not so heavy German. But now? The fervor of failure breaks out of singing Anne, a kind of liberation from forced optimism of her childhood. Is it ripe? Is this resignation?

Often scenes of ZDF film Südstadt are of such great scenic precision. A film looks into soul of a generation. The focus is on 50-year-old people who were sent by ir 68 parents to live ir ideals of freedom. But, oh wonder, in getting older se children have accumulated more Eichendorff than y promised life plans advocated by parents.

The project of sexual freedom was so wrong. The social educator Anne cheats on her husband Martin (Matthias Matschke) with a school colleague. The spouse cheats back: The sociologist has long since lost his Unijob because of his inability and hides disgrace of his wife – but is still proud not to be a neo-liberal, sucked suppository that slipss in ass of capitalism without resistance.

    The ideals of revolt

Martin's far Eberhard (Manfred Zapatka), a retired grammar school teacher, conducts choir with Eichendorff song. He did not live ideals of revolt, but speak well. The younger ones play music, elders give beat. The minded Ringlein of fidelity has devalued this Altideologe, now his faithful children live with consequences.

Eva (Andrea Sawatzki) for example. The single doctor lives in attic of house in Cologne Südstadt, in which problem couple Anne and Martin separates. This Eva is trying to find Ringlein you don't want to break. When Honourable House was still a wild WG and only gradually developed into a midrange hostel left liberal Gutverdiener – to Anne and Eva Saskia met with child and journalist man –, Doctor Eva's spirit had excited sexuality with fast Changing men trying to enjoy. The mill wheel of yearning for true love grew louder and mistrust of men was greater.

Andrea Sawatzki shows her great art of smiling crying. In her shy clown face with her eyes torn open, tragedy of incurable loneliness is playing out. She has to learn painfully what viewer immediately recognizes: Thomas (Dominic Raacke), her latest conquest, is not man Eva will find her luck with.
