The candidates for the price of the Leipzig Book Fair are fixed. The awards will be awarded on March 15th.

A debut novel is also nominated for price of Leipzig Book Fair this year. The jury chose first work how high water rises of Anja Kampmann on shortlist. The green border is also selected by American Isabel Fargo Cole, a political novel about life on fringes of GDR.

In shortlist for prestigious book Award in category of fiction are also Esr Kinsky with Grove: Ground novel, Georg Klein with Miakro as well as Matthias laces with dark numbers. The price of Leipzig Book Fair has been awarded since 2005 in three categories of fiction, essay and translation. It is endowed with a total of 60,000 euros.

To compete for prize in category of Nonbooky/essay Martin dude with his book Beethoven: The Creator and his universe, Gerd Koenen with work The color red: Origins and History of Communism, Andreas Reckwitz with Society of Singularities: to Structural change of modernity, Bernd Roeck with morning of world: History of Renaissance and Karl Schlögel with Soviet century: Archaeology of a Lost world.

For particularly successful translations are nominated: Robin Detje, who also writes for time online, for his translation from American Book of Numbers of Joshua Cohen; Olga Radetzkaja for her translation from Russian of sentimental journey of Viktor Shklovsky; Sabine Stöhr and Yuri Durkot, y translated boarding school of Serhiy Zhadan from Ukrainian; Michael Walter for his translation of Laurence Sterne's work edition from English and Ernest Wicher, he translated Oxenberg Bernstein from Catalin Mihuleac from Romanian.

No easy decision

The jury, chaired by literary critic Kristina Maida-Tine, has selected five nominees per category. As in previous year, it was not easy to agree on outstanding titles, especially in category of fiction. "Our criteria are: What makes author with language, how original are me and design, how high is literary claim and intellectual level". The publishers had submitted a total of 403 books for all three categories. The winners will be announced on first day of Leipzig Book Fair, which is 15th of March.

The Leipzig Book Prize is one of most important literary awards in Germany. Last year, all three prices went to women for first time. Natascha Wodin was awarded in category fiction for her novel she came from Mariupol.
