When a person kills himself, this is one of most tragic events ever. As a rule, we do not report on possibility of exposing at risk to any furr risks. But now Swedish atre director Benny Fredriksson has committed suicide. On 5 December of last year, Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet published a research on its management style. In it, more than 40 atre people reported experiences with Fredriksson, which described an authoritarian, sometimes dictatorial style of leadership. Since n, a "battue" has taken place in Swedish media on atre maker. In any case, it is now interim head of atre. With this assessment he is not alone. Since Fredrikssons death is known, many Swedes are outraged by previous coverage: it has been fueled by MeToo debate and has been unilaterally inflammatory.

Already in February, film producer and agent Jill Messick killed herself in USA. Their former client, actress Rose McGowan, had triggered Weinstein scandal by ir revelations and subsequently raised serious accusations against ir former manager Messick. Even after Messicks suicide, some in social media asked question of guilt at ir death.

However, questions cannot be: Is journalist of Aftonbladet guilty of Fredrikssons death? Or: Is actress Rose McGowan responsible for Messicks suicide? Thus, in any context, questions illustrate fact that re can be no such direct causal context. Against backdrop of such often very loud criticisms and blames – to media, to individuals – it may be a good time to talk about Grays.

    Sometimes noise was almost unbearable

Shades of gray are not spectacular. But necessary to create a differentiated image from plain black and white painting. That is exactly what we are talking about with respect to serious reporting. That is why, if possible, it should also go into social media. However, since beginning of MeToo debate, grey tones have been particularly difficult to perceive.

Revelations, accusations – justified as unjustified, proven as yet unproven –, opinions and counter-representations have been pushing media professionals and readers for months. Who publish what research or gossip gives. The ors read or skim and repeat it in social media. Sometimes noise was almost unbearable. As on that day, when demand arose for actor and former atre director Kevin Spacey to recognize Oscar, which he had received years ago for his acting performance. Now re are even two deaths that could be easily and gaudyly linked to debate.

It is most likely that several factors caused Messicks tragic death. The actress McGowan had been violently attacked by her former manager because she did not feel adequately supported by Messick after attacks by Weinstein. But well-known actors, who describe Messick as a pleasant and competent agent and producer, had also reported. It was also known that Messick suffered from depression. No black, no white. A lot of grey.
