ARLINGTON, Va., April 5, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® today launched its first series of original films, "The Golden Age of Technology," produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions. The series examines the power of consumer technology to improve the quality of life for the world's aging population.

"Technology will improve the lives of billions," said Gary Shapiro, CTA President and CEO. "We are delighted to share the stories of global technology innovators who are helping older people enjoy rich and independent lives."

By 2050, more than 2 billion people will be over the age of 60, double the number today. This film series asks how technology can support older populations in the age of 100 years of life. Through 28 branded films highlighting technology products and services from around the world, "The Golden Age of Tech" highlights the innovations that are reshaping the technology industry and our future. Chapters focus on inclusion by design, expanding our world, independent living through lifelong care and wellness.

With each film from a different organization, "The Golden Age of Technology" tours the globe through the United States, Kenya, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Singapore, India and beyond. The stories cover innovations from a music technology app that helps seniors sing, to a program that helps disabled students integrate into school, to an online platform that enables retirees to pursue lifelong learning.

The release of these films follows the conversations about accessibility technology and age technology at CES 2023, developed in collaboration with the CTA Foundation. The Foundation funds programs and technologies that improve the lives of older adults and people with disabilities and facilitates dialogue between industry, consumers, government, advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders.
