BARCELONA, Spain, March 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei has announced its "three trees" model for talent development at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023. The three trees refer to professors and students from institutions of higher education, permanent students and industry professionals. The model is Huawei's commitment to develop a more innovative and applied ICT talent, which facilitates the digital transformation of industries.

Highly skilled ICT professionals are the key to digital transformation. In its Digital Compass 2030, the EU aspires to add 20 million ICT specialists; it also expects at least 80% of all adults to have basic digital skills by 2023. For its part, China's ICT Talent White Paper highlights the ICT talent gap in China, which will reach some 21.35 million unfilled positions by 2035.

To address these goals and challenges, Huawei works with partners to realize the "Three Trees" Model.

Miao Fengchun, head of UNESCO's Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Education Unit, stated that the UNESCO-Huawei Technology-Enabled Open Schools program has played a pioneering role in helping African countries build digital open schools. . More than 900,000 teachers and 15,000 students from Egypt, Ethiopia and Ghana have participated in the programme. The program also offers a digital platform for learning and resources, open to all local students.

In the next five years, Huawei expects to train more than one million students each year through cooperation with colleges and universities. Its programs aim to cultivate high-quality ICT talent for the future, helping to accelerate the global digital transformation.
