ELYRIA, Ohio -- A man and a teenager were both arrested in connection with a violent home invasion Tuesday night in Elyria.

Derrick Foster, of Sheffield Township, and the teen each face a charge of aggravated burglary, Elyria police Capt. Christopher Costantino said.

A third man wanted in the break-in remains at large, Costantino said.

Foster was arrested Wednesday morning shortly after he left his Clifton Avenue house in Elyria, Costantino said. The 17-year-old was arrested in the afternoon at his girlfriend's home on 11th Street in Elyria, he said.

The break-in happened just after 7:30 p.m. at a home near Gates and Middle avenues.

The 39-year-old victim said that one of the men forced his way into the house and struck him in the face with a gun. A witness reported hearing a gunshot after the men got into the home, police say.

Investigators found a single bullet hole in the wall behind the open front door, according to a news release from the Elyria Police Department.

The gun has not been recovered.

The homeowner got his own .22 caliber rifle and the assailants ran out of the home, police say.

Foster is being held at the Lorain County Jail on a $75,000 bond. The 17-year-old is being held at the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Center.

Foster pleaded guilty to assaulting and robbing a 16-year-old boy near the North Ridgeville Corn Festival in August 2014. He was sentenced to three years in prison and was released less than a year later, according to court records.

Foster and others followed the boy in a car on Center Ridge Road. Foster and the men got out of the car, attacked and robbed him, the boy's father said in a 911 call.

The father said assailants took the boy's clothes, a cellphone and a small amount of cash.

Foster was convicted of aggravated assault in October 2014. A judge sentenced him to six months in prison.
