Libya is considered to be the main transit country for refugees. In the fight against illegal migration, countries are planning a body comprising intelligence services, justice and coast guards.

Libya and Italy want to establish a joint commission to fight smugglers and illegal migration. The Libyan prime minister, Fajes al-Sarradsch, and Italian Interior Minister Marco Minniti Intripoli agreed on this. Minniti also told North African country 35 million euros for a more effective monitoring of its borders.

The Commission shall include information provided by representatives of secret services, Coast Guard and policy of both countries. The Libyan attorney general should also be a member of commission.

It is still unclear where to work. According to Libyan and Italian representatives, Italian marine already maintains a location in port of Tripoli to provide technical assistance to Derlibyschen Coast Guard.

More than 500,000 migrants in Libya
