The police arrested 12 suspects in addition to seizing impressive quantities of narcotics, as well as two firearms, Tuesday morning in Shawinigan, Mauricie.

The individuals arrested are suspected of belonging to drug trafficking networks linked to organized crime.

The investigation conducted by the Mauricie Regional Mixed Squad (ERM) tends to show that these criminal networks are in charge of the distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine in Mauricie.

Pinned suspects could face charges of drug possession, drug trafficking, conspiracy, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of weapons, among others.

A few weeks ago, the police conducted a series of searches as part of this investigation. These led to the seizure of nearly a kilo of cocaine, 210 kg of cannabis, 4.5 kg of hashish, more than 20,000 methamphetamine tablets, 2.5 liters of GHB, more than 160,000 contraband cigarettes , two handguns and nearly $50,000 in cash.
