RELEASE: The Navy of Rouen, France: the first global meeting of tall ships returns from June 8 to 18, 2023

PARIS, Feb. 2, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- In Rouen, for 10 days, some fifty large ships from all over the world will be moored along the 7-kilometre quay of the Seine.

Organized every four years, the Rouen Navy is a unique international maritime event, with 6 million visitors, more than 30 nationalities represented and nearly 7,000 sailors.

A tourist festival in the heart of Normandy: from June 8 to 18, the tall ships can be visited free of charge and everyone can attend numerous activities, including the sailors' parade in the city center and the foot race, the "grande pagaille" (race on the water), street shows, concerts, fireworks, the great parade, and many others.

An appointment for business: the Navy is also a meeting point for companies, which have the possibility of renting the most prestigious sailboats in the afternoon to organize professional initiatives.

The economic impact of the event is estimated at 50 million euros for the Normandy region.

Environmental protection: thanks to a commitment letter signed with its partners and the application of rigorous management, the Navy 2023 will generate zero unsorted waste and zero plastic pollution.

At the same time, the event uses its popularity to raise awareness of environmental issues related to oceans and rivers. Since 2022, an annual scientific symposium has been organized on June 8, World Oceans Day, in collaboration with the Ocean Institute of the Alliance Sorbonne Université.

A cultural event: culture is also the protagonist in this edition, under the patronage of Michel Bussi, a famous French writer translated into 37 languages.

Promoter of maritime culture and located in the heart of Normandy, cradle of Impressionism, the Navy is essentially a popular cultural event.

This will be complemented by representations of street shows linked to maritime history and will lead to the production of exclusive literary stories.

Organisation: The organization of an event of this magnitude depends almost exclusively on the 400 volunteers involved. It has the support of a large number of institutional partners, companies and the media.

More than 1,000 journalists follow each edition. We invite you to register in the press room.
