MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Aena obtained a net profit of 499.2 million euros in the first nine months of the year, compared to the losses of 123.7 million that it registered in the same period of 2021, the company reported this Wednesday.

Aena's total consolidated revenues rose to 2,915.1 million euros through September, 65.6% more than in the first nine months of 2021.

Aena's gross operating profit (Ebitda) amounted to 1,301.5 million euros until September, almost triple the 438.3 million in the same period of 2021. This figure includes 85.2 million euros from the consolidation of Luton and 49.3 million ANB.

From January to September, the company increased its operating cash flow to 1,558.3 million euros, compared to 20.5 million euros in the same period of 2021.

The number of passengers who used the Aena network in Spain multiplied by more than two until September (140.7%), reaching 184.2 million, which is equivalent to recovering 86.1% of the traffic for the same period of 2019, before the pandemic.

Aena has highlighted that this increase is "generalized" in all airports and in all types of traffic: national traffic rose 72.8% in the first nine months, while international traffic tripled.

If the data from Luton Airport (London) and the six airports of the Northeast Airport Group in Brazil (ANB) are included, the total number of passengers amounts to 204.4 million, 133.8% more than in the same period of 2021, which is equivalent to a recovery of 85.8% of pre-Covid traffic.

Luton Airport registered an increase of 264.7% until September, which represents 71% of the traffic of the first nine months of 2019, while Aena Brasil shows an increase of 26.9% and has already recovered the traffic of 2019, with an increase of 0.7%.

The company has also detailed that the rise in the price of electricity at the network's airports has led to a year-on-year increase in cost of 150 million euros.
