And 15 for Joey Chestnut!

American Joey Chestnut won for the 15th time the annual hot dog eating contest held on July 4, in the New York area, on the sidelines of the festivities of the Independence of the United States.

The 38-year-old thus improved his record, having won the competition 15 times in the past 16 years. This time he devoured 63 hot dogs in 10 minutes to earn his World Championship title. This is 13 less than in 2021.

“I slowed down, but it was fierce competition,” Chestnut said after his win.

The winner ate 15 more hot dogs than his closest pursuer, Geoffrey Esper. In his first appearance at the event, James Webb looked good as he put on 41 “hot dogs”.

Among the women, Miki Sudo reclaimed her crown by eating 40 hot dogs. She had not been able to participate in the competition last year, since she was pregnant.

She had won all the editions since her arrival on this circuit in 2014.

Michelle Lesco, the 2021 champion, finished second with 26 hot dogs gobbled up.
