It was around 10:30 p.m. when at least four individuals showed up at the home of Dieff Mondelus, a 34-year-old man. In a context that will have to be clarified by the major crime investigators of the Sûreté du Québec, the man found himself at the heart of a violent altercation. At some point, shots were fired by one of the suspects and the 30-year-old was hit by a projectile in the abdomen.

An acquaintance was upstairs during the crime, but could not see the suspects.

No arrest

The one who tries to break through under the name Jfm Villa on the Quebec cultural scene was rushed to hospital, where doctors still fear for his life. He is due to undergo major surgery today.

Witnesses were interviewed by investigators. So far, no arrests have been made.

“The elements collected so far allow us to believe that the victim was targeted,” said Sergeant Nicholas Scholtus, spokesperson for the SQ.

For money

Moreover, according to our information, a story of money would be at the origin of the crime. Dieff Mondelus, who has no criminal record, has owned the residence where the tragedy occurred since 2018. But two years ago, he had to take out a second mortgage for this same property. In addition, he had just signed another mortgage for the acquisition of a triplex just a few days ago.

Relatives, who preferred to remain anonymous, categorically deny the thesis of a money debt. According to them, the individuals would rather have wanted to steal the wads of banknotes exhibited in his last music video, “100k”, released three weeks ago.

Moreover, rapper Le Youngin, alias Tikid, one of the founding members of the group Sans Pressure, is well featured in this latest production. Jean-Philippe Guillaume, his real name, was also the victim of an attempted murder last March. The 45-year-old has since been discharged from hospital and is doing well.

Without confirming it, however, the SQ cannot exclude the hypothesis that these two crimes are connected.
