A 19-year-old man was shot and injured around 11:40 p.m. Saturday in the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal at the corner of Dépatie and Cléroux streets.

Several calls to 9-1-1 were made.

The victim was transported to a hospital.

The man was conscious when police arrived and is currently in stable condition.

Initial information indicates that the victim was walking on the street, while two suspects followed on foot.

They assaulted the man to steal his belongings, and one of them shot the victim afterwards. They fled on foot before the police arrived.

The scene is currently protected by investigators, as well as forensic identification technicians.

The canine unit was also dispatched to the scene, in search of clues.

There are no arrests at this time.

The investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of this event.
