Trois-Rivières: Finally, time for swimming at the Parc de l’Exposition!

The municipal swimming pool at the Parc de l'Exposition in Trois-Rivières was finally able to welcome swimmers on Monday after repair work was carried out.

The City of Trois-Rivières had a bad surprise at the end of May when the outdoor swimming pool at the Parc de l'Exposition opened. An inlet line from the pump to the pool was split. They had to fix everything quickly to be ready for the summer season.

The opening of the swimming pool at the Parc de l'Exposition was long overdue. Above all, it was a highly anticipated opening as the sun attracts swimmers. As of Monday, families, athletes and day camps were on hand to cool off. Emergency works explain the delay.

“We undid the cement, the slab all around, in order to have access to the pipe. Then redo the pipe, check the tightness of the structure, rebury, then redo the cement so that it is aesthetic,” explained Mikaël Morrissette, alternate spokesperson for the City of Trois-Rivières.

During the summer period, only five swimming pools are open, namely those of the Martin Bergeron, Lemire, Pie-XII, Exposition and Île Saint-Quentin parks. The other five will be closed due to a lack of manpower on the lifeguard side.

However, the City is not giving up and is implementing concrete recruitment actions. This week, training will be offered in order to have new memories. Currently, with less than thirty of them, it is impossible to operate all the pools. However, if recruitment and training go well, other pools could possibly open.

Before going to one of the five different bathing sites, check the opening hours. The labor shortage may force unexpected closures during the summer season.
