A 44-year-old man faces eight counts after an argument between neighbors turned sour in Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, in the Laurentians.

The facts which are alleged against Éric Greffard would have occurred on Tuesday. After an argument between him and his neighbor broke out, police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were reportedly called to the scene.

Refusing to obey orders, the accused allegedly pointed a long gun at the police. The latter would then have fired on the latter who was injured by at least one bullet.

Mr. Greffard was thus accused on Friday of having pointed a firearm at peace officers, of having used it and of having resisted the peace officers. Charges of assault and illegal possession of a weapon also weigh against the latter.

As the SQ agents fired their service weapon, an independent investigation was initiated by the Office of Independent Investigations.
