The Government sets the minimum services for tomorrow due to the CGT strike in Renfe

Only 25% of freight trains will circulate

MADRID, 10 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has set the minimum services on the railway network for this Friday, November 11, on the occasion of the second day of the strike called by CGT in Renfe.

However, according to Renfe data, the strike was followed by less than 3% - around 200 employees - last Monday, which was the first day of the strike, so it is expected that the operation will take place without major incidents, beyond the impact of minimum services.

The majority unions in the company (UGT, CC.OO. and Semaf) have already called off the strike that they proposed after reaching an agreement to sign the III Collective Agreement, which included a fixed salary increase of 3.5% for 2022, with effects retroactive to January 1, as well as a rise of 2.5% in 2023 and 2% for 2024, variable depending on the increases in GDP and the CPI.

However, the CGT union, which has 2 representatives out of a total of 13 members in the Company Committee, decided to continue the strike, considering that the agreements were not sufficient for the well-being of the workforce.

For this Friday, the minimum services set determine the circulation, in Cercanías, of 75% of the trains at rush hour and 50% at off-peak time; 65% of the Medium Distance trains; 72% of long-distance trains and 25% of freight trains. Additionally, the Generalitat de Catalunya has set a minimum of 66% of Rodalies trains at rush hour and 33% at off-peak hours.

On the other hand, the minimum services stipulated for Freight trains determine that only 25% of these trains circulate, so that more than 200 Freight services will not operate, with the consequent negative impact on the logistics chains of dozens of large and medium-sized Spanish industrial companies.

Renfe has taken the opportunity to apologize to the citizens for this CGT strike. "The management of the company regrets that, despite the various appeals made and the signing of the collective agreement, it has not been possible to impose logic and CGT continues with its call, despite the very little real follow-up," the company has defended. public.
