What would a summer be without the dinosaurs of the “Jurassic World”? Especially since Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill are back and join Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and the young Isabella Sermon. So what can we expect from this final installment of the new trilogy?
1 - “In the film, the park has disappeared and the dinosaurs are everywhere. Owen, Claire and Maisie live under the radar. We give you something you want...but not what you expect,” Chris Pratt said in media interviews. Sure enough, “Jurassic World: Domination” is set five years after “Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom.” The scenario follows two intrigues which will come together. "It's not the traditional way to tell a story," said co-writer and director Colin Trevorrow before adding that the blockbuster contained elements of a "spy adventure", with "a bit of Bourne and Bond'.
2 – Women are undeniably the heroines of this new chapter of the second trilogy, DeWanda Wise is a newcomer, Kayla Watts, a pilot. For Colin Trevorrow, it's not Chris Pratt the main protagonist of his trilogy, but rather Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing. "We open every movie with her and she leads every one of these stories," said Colin Trevorrow.
3 - Lewis Dodgson, the Biosyn employee who stole the dinosaur embryos is back. This time around, he's played by Campbell Scott, actor Cameron Thor currently serving a prison sentence for sexual assault.
4 – For Colin Trevorrow, the character of Kayla Watts is of paramount importance. “It was very important to introduce a new heroine who can potentially define the future of the franchise. We've had the opportunity to create someone who will inspire little girls and dress up as her for Halloween for years to come." Obviously, the critics were quick to fuse, with some Internet users calling the film a “woke” even before having seen it. “As soon as you put a woman, a black woman, a woman of color or a person of color on the screen, there is automatically an undertone, explained DeWanda Wise. My presence is politicized, whether fans know the story or not.”
5 – “This is really the film I have been waiting to make from the start. This is the one to which the first two lead us. And I think people underestimate the importance of the characters of Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum in "Domination". It really is a tight-knit group and that means you can take these characters loved for over 30 years and understand how they interact in a world we haven't seen yet."
Released in 1993, directed by Steven Spielberg and adapted from the excellent – and very different – eponymous novel by Michael Crichton, “Jurassic Park” was quickly followed by other films, each generally more profitable than the other.
