A motorcyclist and his passenger were in critical condition on Saturday evening after going off the road in Shawinigan, Mauricie.

The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on rang Saint-Mathieu, but the circumstances were still unknown at the end of the evening.

The driver and his passenger were taken to a hospital in critical condition and there were fears for their lives, said Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay.
